As Cornwall’s leading provider of sail training, Falmouth School of Sailing holds an unrivalled reputation across Cornwall’s maritime industry. A long-established and family-run training centre we are recognised by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), delivering quality courses for all abilities.
Our wide range of classroom and online theory courses include Basic Navigation, Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Theory as well as Ocean Yachtmaster. Supporting our practical and theory courses, we provide a selection of specialist short courses such as VHF-GMDSS Marine Radio, First Aid and Diesel Engine Maintenance. We also cater for sailors keen to stay overnight with our Cruising Courses which are open to all levels, whether you’re an experienced sailor or nautical newbie.

RYA Cruising Courses
Falmouth has a rich maritime legacy with its surrounding waters the ideal setting for sail training. The sheltered Roseland Peninsula and Pendennis Point are tucked away from the English Channel, providing sheltered waters for our RYA Cruising Courses, even during less favourable weather. Thanks to their protection, we can explore the upper reaches of the deep Fal Estuary as well the stunning Truro River, exploring various passages across to the Helford River and up to pretty Fowey.
RYA Theory Courses
Our extensive range of RYA Theory Courses all follow the RYA modules which are designed to meet a mix of abilities.
